Mumbai, September 2: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced the postponement of the recruitment process for 32,388 teacher positions. The online application process was set to begin on September 1, 2026, but has been delayed due to procedural changes, as stated by the commission.
The recruitment was initially reserved for residents of Bihar, with 50% reservation for women in primary teacher positions (grades 1-5) and 35% for middle, secondary, and higher secondary classes.
Reasons for Postponement
The BPSC cited “procedural changes” as the reason for the postponement, but did not specify what these changes entail or when the new application dates will be announced.
Significance of the Recruitment
The recruitment process has been a focal point for teacher candidates in Bihar, who have raised various demands regarding the TRE 4.0 process. Protests were held by students, addressing concerns about the exam pattern, negative marking, and the overall recruitment process.
Candidates had been preparing to apply since September 1, and the sudden halt has left many in confusion. Their primary concern now is the timeline for the new application and examination schedule.
In July, candidates protested outside the BSSC office, voicing their demands related to the recruitment. Despite the issuance of the TRE-4 notification, protests continued, with students advocating for a single-phase exam and the elimination of negative marking.
In response to the growing pressure, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary convened a meeting with education department officials and BPSC representatives to discuss increasing the number of seats and addressing other student demands. However, the postponement of the recruitment process has rendered the candidates’ efforts ineffective.
Candidates are now anxiously awaiting updates on the new schedule for applications and examinations.
