Blind Student Achieves 92.6% in CBSE 10th Boards

Hathras, April 29: Anushka Goyal, a 16-year-old student from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, has made headlines by scoring an impressive 92.6% in the CBSE 10th board examinations, despite being 90% visually impaired. Anushka, who can only see 10% of the world, chose to take the exam under the general category rather than opting for the disabled quota.

In an exclusive interview, Anushka shared her journey through the board exams, highlighting her determination and unique study methods. She relied on a magnifying glass to read and often studied in audio format, taking notes on important points. “I wanted to write my answers myself because I visualized how to underline and highlight key points,” she explained.

Anushka faced significant challenges, especially when her digital magnifying glass broke just two days before the exams, causing her to struggle with her studies. However, her family supported her by reading chapters aloud, which helped her prepare.

Despite her visual limitations, Anushka managed to complete her exams with the help of a reader who assisted her in reading questions. She had to bring the exam paper very close to her eyes to write, a method she has adapted to over time.

Anushka initially aspired to become a cardiologist but has now set her sights on engineering, having taken Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in her 11th grade. She expressed her passion for learning, stating, “I sometimes feel frustrated due to my condition, but my love for studying makes those challenges seem small.”

Her teachers were confident in her abilities, with some even betting that she would score above 90%. Anushka’s story is not just about numbers; it reflects her resilience and commitment to education, inspiring many.
