ISRO Launches EOS-05 Satellite; Elena Mishra Enters FIDE Ratings

New Delhi, September 5: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the EOS-05 imaging satellite on September 4 at 2:55 AM. This satellite, positioned in a geosynchronous orbit approximately 36,000 kilometers above Earth, is India’s first satellite capable of taking continuous images of large areas, including strategic regions along the Pakistan-China border. The launch was conducted from Sriharikota using the GSLV-F17 rocket, marking ISRO’s return to missions after an eight-month hiatus following two unsuccessful launches earlier this year. The EOS-05 satellite will aid in weather monitoring, disaster management, agriculture, and environmental surveillance.
