Visakhapatnam, April 30: Google has announced plans to set up the country’s first AI hub in Visakhapatnam, with an investment of $15 billion from 2026 to 2030. The foundation stone for the AI hub was laid by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on April 28.
The project aims to create three AI data centers in the region, covering approximately 600 acres in Tharluwada, Adavivaram, and Rambilli. The AI hub is expected to initiate a 1.1 gigawatt (GW) AI system, with a target capacity of 6.5 GW, focusing on cloud computing power and large-scale data storage.
This initiative is part of the broader ‘Developed India 2047’ vision and is aligned with the America-India Connect initiative, which aims to expand fiber optic networks. The AI hub will be developed in collaboration with AdaniConneX and Airtel Nxtra, marking a significant milestone in India’s technological landscape.
The structure of the AI hub project was finalized during a meeting in September 2024, and the final draft was completed in October 2025. Google has previously established its first office in India in Hyderabad in 2007, with additional offices in Bengaluru, Gurugram, Mumbai, and Pune.
