CBSE Officials Transferred Amid On-Screen Marking Controversy

Mumbai, June 2: In a significant development, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has transferred its Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta due to controversies surrounding the new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. This decision comes in response to complaints regarding discrepancies in the marking process following the release of the Class 12 results on May 13, where the papers were evaluated using the OSM system for the first time.

To address these issues, the government has also established a committee to investigate the procurement process of the OSM service. The committee will be chaired by S. Radha Chauhan, the CEO of the Government E-Marketplace. This one-member committee will examine whether there were any irregularities or discrepancies in the procurement and implementation of the new marking system.

Rahul Singh, a senior IAS officer, was appointed as the CBSE Chairman on March 13, 2024. Following the results announcement, several students raised concerns about their scores, prompting the initiation of this investigation.
