DRDO Achieves Milestone with Successful Missile Tests

Mumbai, June 15: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted three flight tests of its multi-layered Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) system on June 10 and 11. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced the successful tests via his social media account on June 13.

These tests were aimed at evaluating India’s capability to intercept long-range ballistic missiles and intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) threats. The tests included the successful launch of the AD-1 and AD-2 interceptor missiles, which are designed to detect, track, and destroy enemy ballistic missiles with ranges between 2,000 to 5,000 kilometers.

With these successful tests, India has joined the ranks of countries possessing advanced BMD capabilities against ICBM-level threats. The BMD system comprises a robust defense network, including powerful radars, command centers, and interceptor missiles, designed to detect, track, and neutralize incoming ballistic missiles.

This significant achievement underscores India’s commitment to enhancing its defense capabilities and ensuring national security.
