Indian Golfer Vijay Kumar Passes Away; DRDO Launches Missiles from Helicopter

Mumbai, May 1: In significant developments, the Indian golfing community mourns the loss of renowned golfer Vijay Kumar, who passed away on April 29 at the age of 57. Kumar was celebrated for his remarkable achievements, including winning the 2002 Indian Open and being named the best player multiple times between 1995 and 2000. In a separate event, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully launched two Short Range Naval Anti-Ship Missiles (NASM-SR) from a Sea King helicopter in the Bay of Bengal on April 29. This launch marks a significant milestone in India’s defence capabilities, demonstrating the ability to conduct salvo launches, which allows multiple missiles to be fired in quick succession. The NASM-SR missiles are designed to evade enemy radar systems and enhance naval attack precision.
