Ajmer, April 21: In a surprising turnout, only 75 candidates showed up for the document verification of the Deputy Commandant exam conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), despite 255 candidates being called. The commission has now scheduled another opportunity for all 180 candidates on April 24.
The recruitment for four Deputy Commandant positions attracted over 10,000 applications, primarily from retired army captains, former officers who resigned, and candidates released from emergency and short service commissions. However, many candidates without the necessary qualifications applied and participated in the exam.
To filter out ineligible candidates, the commission decided to conduct document verification. Candidates were summoned between April 15 and 20, but only 75 attended.
According to RPSC Secretary Ramniwas Mehta, all candidates who appeared for the written exam were required to download the counseling letter and application form from the RPSC website. They needed to bring two copies of the application form, a receipt for the online fee payment of ₹50, and self-attested copies of relevant educational documents, along with original documents, to the commission’s office.
The vacancy announcement for the Deputy Commandant positions was made on March 18, 2025, with online applications accepted from March 24 to April 22, 2025. After withdrawals, 4,221 candidates remained, and the written exam was held on January 11, 2026, with 255 candidates participating.
The eligibility criteria for this recruitment required candidates to be retired army captains, former officers who resigned, or candidates released from emergency and short service commissions.
Many candidates without qualifications submitted applications, and during the verification process, several were found ineligible. They were given a chance to withdraw their applications, with the commission warning that failure to do so could lead to action under Section 217 of the Indian Penal Code, resulting in around 6,000 candidates withdrawing their forms.
