Mumbai, September 29: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has announced the postponement of three civil service examinations scheduled for October 3. This decision comes in the wake of ongoing protests from candidates regarding the examination process, particularly following allegations of a paper leak in the Drug Inspector recruitment exam.
In addition to the immediate postponement, the MPSC has stated that the answer sheets from the 2025 exams will be re-evaluated. The Maharashtra Civil Engineering Mains Exam 2026 and the Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Mains Exam have also been rescheduled, with new dates to be announced soon.
The postponement request was made by numerous students, parents, and student unions, reflecting widespread dissatisfaction with the current examination system.
Previously, the MPSC had cancelled the recruitment process for the Drug Inspector position in the Food and Drug Administration Department, which was initially held on March 22, 2026. The cancellation followed the revelation of a paper leak, which led to the arrest of six individuals involved in the scandal.
Aditya Thackeray, a leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), had urged the Governor to postpone the exams, a request that has now been granted. He expressed hope that the Governor would also demand the resignation of the MPSC chairman. Protests have been planned by candidates seeking reforms and accountability in the examination process.
