Mumbai, July 12: Parag Agrawal, the Indian-American software engineer and former CEO of Twitter, has made a significant comeback in the tech industry by launching his own artificial intelligence company, Parallel Web Systems Inc. This move comes after his departure from Twitter following Elon Musk’s acquisition of the platform in October 2022.
Agrawal was appointed as CEO by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey on November 29, 2021, but was removed from the position less than a year later. Instead of seeking employment elsewhere, Agrawal chose to start his own venture, focusing on AI technology.
Parallel Web Systems aims to provide infrastructure for “AI agents,” which are autonomous software systems capable of performing various tasks similar to humans. Unlike traditional AI that relies on pre-fed data, Agrawal’s company is developing tools that enable AI to access live internet data, extract real-time information, and execute complex tasks.
The company offers a range of APIs that allow AI to gather data from websites and complete online tasks autonomously. Agrawal holds a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Bombay, followed by an MS and PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University.
As the tech landscape evolves, Agrawal’s venture represents a significant step towards enhancing the capabilities of AI systems in real-time applications.
