Piyush Goyal Launches National Strategic Trade Centre

New Delhi, October 17: In a significant move to enhance India’s international trade management, Union Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurated the National Strategic Trade Centre on October 15 in New Delhi. The event took place at the Commerce Building and aims to strengthen the monitoring and management of India’s international trade.
The National Strategic Trade Centre is a digital monitoring and data analysis hub developed by the Commerce Department. It will provide a centralized platform for various trade-related dashboards and information, enabling officials to access comprehensive data on India’s trade performance and export processes.
During the inauguration, Goyal emphasized the importance of regular meetings of the inter-ministerial committee to address pending applications and suggested weekly meetings if necessary.
The SCOMET dashboard, which stands for Special Chemicals, Organisms, Materials, Equipment, and Technology, was specifically reviewed by Goyal. This dashboard will help in monitoring exports of items and technologies that can be used for both civilian and military purposes, thereby improving trade oversight in India and facilitating the identification of new export markets.
This initiative is expected to provide policymakers with complete trade-related information on a single platform, enhancing the overall efficiency of trade management in the country.
