Mumbai, May 30: The Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) faced significant delays today due to technical glitches, starting two hours late. Originally scheduled to begin at 9 AM, the first shift of the exam commenced only at 11 AM.
Numerous examination centers across the country experienced server and system issues, leading to the late start. Many students were left waiting for hours, with reports from some centers indicating that exams were cancelled after a four-hour wait.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) attributed the delays to technical difficulties caused by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The NTA assured that the issues have been resolved and that candidates will be given the full allotted time to complete their exams.
Additionally, the NTA announced changes to the timing of the second shift, which was initially set to start at 3 PM. The new start time is now 4 PM, with a reporting time of 2:30 PM.
Parents waiting outside exam centers expressed their frustration on social media, criticizing the central education minister for the delays caused by the technical glitch.
A total of 15,68,866 candidates have registered for the CUET-UG 2026 exam, which began on May 11 and will continue until May 31. The exam is being conducted in 35 shifts over a period of 21 days.
Candidates applying for CUET-UG must have passed their Class 12 examination from a recognized state or central board, or have completed an intermediate or two-year pre-university exam from a recognized university or board.
