Mumbai, September 3: Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Shakti Sharma has made history by becoming the first woman officer from the non-medical branch of the Indian Air Force to achieve the rank of two-star officer. On September 1, she took over as the Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Education).
Shakti Sharma was commissioned into the Indian Air Force on June 18, 1994, and brings over 30 years of experience to her new role. Throughout her , she has served in various capacities, including training establishments, field stations, command headquarters, and air headquarters.
Her appointment marks a significant milestone for women in the Indian defense forces, showcasing the increasing opportunities for female officers in leadership positions.
