
Mumbai, June 18: In a significant development for the Indian e-commerce sector, Hari Menon, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BigBasket, has resigned from his position as of June 16. Despite stepping down as CEO, Menon will continue to serve on the company’s board and mentor the new leadership team.
Menon co-founded BigBasket in 2011 alongside Vipul Parekh, V.S. Sudhakar, V.S. Ramesh, and Abhinav Choudhary, establishing it as one of India’s largest online grocery platforms. He previously co-founded Fabmart in 1999, which was later acquired by the Aditya Birla Group. Amit Nanda, who has over 11 years of experience at Amazon, will take over as the new CEO of BigBasket.
In other news, India is set to host the Miss Grand International 2026 competition for the first time. The announcement was made on June 16, with the event scheduled to take place in October across Jaipur, Agra, and New Delhi. This will be the 14th edition of the competition, and India was officially declared the host country during the finale of Miss Grand International 2025. Lakshita Thilagaraj, the winner of Miss Grand India 2026, will represent the country.
