Mahesh Dixit Appointed as IB Director

Mumbai, June 27: In a significant development for India’s intelligence community, senior IPS officer Mahesh Dixit has been appointed as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB). The announcement was made by the central government on June 25, and he will take over from Tapan Kumar Deka, whose term ends on June 30.

Mahesh Dixit, a 1993 batch IPS officer, has a unique background as he was a doctor before joining the IPS. His appointment comes with a two-year tenure, during which he will oversee critical anti-terrorism operations and internal security measures. Notably, Dixit previously led the IB’s Srinagar unit during the abrogation of Article 370.

The appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), marking a pivotal moment in India’s internal security landscape. With 26 years of experience in national security matters, Mahesh Dixit is expected to bring valuable expertise to the role.

In other news, the government has lifted restrictions on the supply of commercial LPG, allowing hotels, restaurants, and industrial buyers to access LPG as before. This decision follows the resolution of tensions in the Middle East and aims to restore normalcy in the supply chain.
