Neelkanth Mishra Appointed World Bank Executive Director; Indian Boxers Reach Top Ranks

Mumbai, June 6: In a significant development, renowned Indian economist Neelkanth Mishra has been appointed as the Executive Director of the World Bank, effective June 5. He will serve in this role for three years, succeeding Parmeshwaran Aiyar. Mishra began his in 1997 at Hindustan Lever as a Systems Manager and has held various positions, including Senior Technical Architect at Infosys from 2000 to 2023. He has also been a member of the PM Economic Advisory Council and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), and served as Chief Economist at Axis Bank until recently. The World Bank, established in July 1944, plays a crucial role in global economic diplomacy and infrastructure funding, representing 189 member countries through its 25 Executive Directors.

In sports news, Indian women boxers Meenakshi Hooda and Jasmine Lamboria have made history by achieving the World No. 1 ranking in their respective weight categories as of June 5. Meenakshi secured the top spot in the 48 kg category, while Jasmine excelled in the 57 kg category.
