New Delhi, June 1: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has raised serious concerns regarding the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and its examination processes. On May 30, he highlighted allegations of corruption in the tendering process, claiming that students’ answer sheets were scanned using mobile phones instead of proper robotic scanners.
Gandhi stated that this year, four examinations were conducted with over one crore students participating, yet none were conducted with integrity. He pointed out that the quality of scanning was reduced from 300 DPI to 200 DPI, which he believes compromises the evaluation process.
He emphasized that issues such as blurry answer sheets and missing pages are not mere technical errors but rather the result of contracts designed to benefit specific vendors. “This is a deception, and every student whose marks have been miscalculated is a victim of this fraud,” he asserted.
Additionally, Gandhi criticized the revaluation fees charged by CBSE, stating that students are forced to pay up to ₹2000 for corrections due to the board’s mistakes. He warned, “Beware of the pickpockets sitting inside CBSE. When a mistake is made, the students pay the price while the government profits.”
In a recent interaction with Class 12 students, Gandhi shared a video where students expressed their frustrations about being labeled as anti-national for questioning the evaluation process. He remarked on the absurdity of such accusations against students merely seeking clarity on their answer sheets.
The Congress party has also raised alarms about a potential data leak, claiming that the answer sheets of nearly 20 lakh students were made publicly available, posing a serious threat to their privacy.
As the debate continues, students and parents alike are calling for transparency and accountability from the CBSE to ensure fair evaluation practices.
