Mumbai, September 2: Southern Railway has released a notification for the recruitment of apprentices for the year 2026, offering a total of 4471 positions. Among these, 163 positions are reserved for fresh candidates, while 4308 are designated for Ex-ITI candidates.
Educational Qualifications:
- For freshers in the fitter, painter, and welder trades: Minimum 50% marks in 10th grade required.
- For Medical Laboratory Technicians: Minimum 50% marks in 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects.
- For Ex-ITI candidates: Candidates must have an ITI certificate in the relevant trade from a recognized NCVT/SCVT institution with a minimum of 50% marks in 10th grade.
- Engineering graduates and diploma holders are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit:
For Freshers:
- Minimum: 15 years
- Maximum: 22 years
For Ex-ITI and MLT Categories:
- Maximum: 24 years
- Age will be calculated as of September 27, 2026.
- Age relaxation will be provided as per government rules for reserved categories.
Stipend:
Monthly stipend ranges from ₹8,200 to ₹9,600.
