New Delhi, August 1: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) are set to undergo significant reforms aimed at streamlining their recruitment processes. Union Minister of State for Personnel, Dr. Jitendra Singh, made the announcement in Parliament.
SSC’s Sliding Mechanism Framework
To address the issue of candidates being selected for multiple positions and leaving others vacant, the SSC has introduced a ‘Sliding Mechanism’ framework. This system will allow lower-ranked candidates to be upgraded based on merit, filling any remaining vacancies effectively.
AI-Based Verification in UPSC
The Civil Services Examination (CSE) will now implement AI-based verification, which will track candidates’ attempts. To prevent cheating in exam halls, face authentication will be mandatory.
Changes in Provisional Joining Letter Provisions
The government has introduced a provision for issuing provisional joining letters based on self-attestation. Departments will have a maximum of six months to verify character and caste certificates. If the verification report is delayed, it will not affect the candidate’s service.
Reduced Fee for Objections
To enhance transparency in the UPSC exams, the fee for filing objections upon the release of answer keys has been reduced. Additionally, candidates with disabilities will be guaranteed the choice of their preferred examination center.
