New Delhi, September 4: Belgium’s Prime Minister Bart De Wever arrived in India on a three-day official visit on September 3. During his visit, he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to engage in bilateral discussions.
Both nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote clean energy, aiming to double mutual trade over the next five years as part of strengthening their economic partnership. Additionally, a ‘Letter of Intent’ was signed to enhance cooperation in the defense sector.
In a bid to tackle cybercrime, both countries agreed to collaborate on cybersecurity initiatives. Discussions during the meeting also covered trade and investment, defense and security, technology, energy connectivity, and people-to-people relations. Prime Minister De Wever paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat, marking his first visit to India since assuming office in February 2025.
Furthermore, an MoU was signed to facilitate training and skill development for diplomats from both countries.
