IIT Kanpur Launches Cyber Security Course with 60 Seats for 2027

Kanpur, June 12: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has announced the launch of a Bachelor of Cyber Security course starting from the academic session of July 2027. This program will offer 60 seats and does not require a JEE Advanced score for admission.

Students aspiring to build s in coding, ethical hacking, and digital security can apply for this course. The program will be offered by the Wadhwani School of AI and Intelligent Systems.

Selected candidates will be invited to the IIT Kanpur campus in the first week of July for a live hackathon, where they will demonstrate their technical and ethical hacking skills.

The Bachelor of Cyber Security program is a four-year undergraduate course that emphasizes practical and live projects. IIT Kanpur boasts a robust ecosystem for cyber security, including the C3i hub, which will benefit students in this course.

During the first two years, students will study fundamental and advanced theories of cyber security at the main campus. Practical training will be conducted in high-tech laboratories, covering topics like network security, cryptography, and threat intelligence.

In the third and fourth years, students will be sent for internships with top security organizations of the Government of India, working on real-world cyber projects related to national security.

IIT Kanpur is in the process of launching a dedicated webpage for the course, expected to go live next week. The institute has initiated this program in response to the growing importance of cyber security and the need for trained professionals in this field. Director Manindra Agrawal emphasized that cyber security has become a critical area for the protection of digital infrastructure and national systems.
