Mumbai, June 20: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced the cancellation of holidays for MBBS and other medical students across the country on June 21 and 22 due to the upcoming NEET re-exam scheduled for June 21. This decision aims to prevent cheating and paper leaks during the examination.
In an advisory issued by the NMC, it has been stated that students will not be granted leave on these dates unless there is a valid emergency. Even in such cases, a proper justification will be required for any leave requests.
The advisory emphasizes the need for strict adherence to the guidelines, as there have been previous incidents of suspicious activities related to examinations among medical college students. The NMC stresses the importance of vigilance among medical institutions to maintain the integrity of the examination process.
These directives are being issued in reference to a letter received from the Ministry of Education, aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of the NEET re-exam. All medical colleges are required to comply strictly with these instructions.
The NEET re-exam was necessitated after the original exam scheduled for May 3 was cancelled due to a paper leak incident.
This advisory comes at a crucial time as approximately 22 lakh students are expected to participate in the examination.
